What is Sunday Funday?

Sunday Funday is Tamarindo’s original beach and pool crawl — a shared party bus tour that hops three beach clubs and pools along the Guanacaste coast every Sunday. Tickets are $50 per person, the crowd is 18+, and the day runs about 8 hours. See the full Sunday Funday details.

What stops do we go to?

Three stops in the Flamingo and Potrero beach area, typically in this order:

• Hemingways (Playa Potrero): a beachfront restaurant with a pool and a menu that runs from tacos to fresh seafood and wood-fired pizza — where the party gets started.
• Dunama (Playa Flamingo): perched high above Playa Flamingo with a swim-up bar, happy-hour specials, and some of the best views on the coast.
• Las Brisas (Playa Potrero): the classic Sunday finale — beachfront bar and restaurant with a DJ and a sunset bonfire just for our crawl, weather permitting.

Stops may change due to availability, closures, or private events.

Is there a minimum group size?

Sunday Funday needs at least 15 guests to run and fits up to 52. If a Sunday doesn’t fill, you’re refunded in full.

Is there an after-party?

The crawl wraps around 8 PM. If you want to keep going, Club 41 hosts an optional after-party with its own welcome shot and dance classes — totally voluntary and not part of the tour.

Where and when do we meet?

Meet in central Tamarindo at noon for check-in and the pre-party — your exact meeting spot is in your booking confirmation. Free shots go out at 12:45 PM and the bus leaves at 1:00 PM sharp. Don’t be late: we have places to go and shots to drink, and the bus won’t wait. Grab sunscreen and anything else you need the day before.

What time do we get back to Tamarindo?

Around 8:00 PM.

Do you offer pickup outside Tamarindo — JW Marriott, Westin, or RIU?

Yes. Contact us with where you’re staying and we’ll quote transport for your group. Our sister company, Special Places of Costa Rica, can arrange transportation for groups of any size.

Is there food at the stops?

Yes — every stop has a kitchen. Order as soon as you arrive, since kitchens can run on Costa Rica time. Food and drinks are not included in the ticket price, but you get a welcome drink at each stop plus happy-hour specials.

Do the bars take credit cards?

All stops accept cards, but bring some cash too.

What should I bring?

• Towel
• Swimsuit (wear it under your clothes)
• Sunscreen
• Hat and sunglasses
• Any fun accessories you like

Leave your passport and valuables at your hotel — things left behind on a crawl day are often never recovered.

Where can I buy the official crawler tank top?

Tank tops are $20 and sold at check-in before the bus leaves, subject to availability.

Is Sunday Funday only on Sundays?

The shared tour runs on Sundays only. Any other day, book a private crawl for your group.

Does the tour run year-round?

Sunday Funday runs every week, and private crawls are available year-round.

What if it rains?

The crawl goes on rain or shine — green-season showers usually pass within the hour, and you’re in a swimsuit anyway. If the weather turns genuinely severe, we may cancel for safety and you’ll get a full refund or a new date.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Cancel free up to 48 hours before the tour. Inside 48 hours, tickets are non-refundable — and yes, that includes Saturday-night hangovers. (Our best cure is more beer.) Private crawls can be cancelled free up to 7 days in advance.

Can we book a private crawl?

Any day of the week. Private crawls start at $800 for up to 20 guests, with room for up to 40, and include the bus, driver, two hosts, and a welcome drink at every stop. Popular for birthdays, bachelorette and bachelor parties, and wedding groups. Book at least 3 days ahead.

Can kids come on a private crawl?

Yes — private crawls have no age limit (guests must be 18+ to drink). Sunday Funday is 18+ only.

Is this a good tour for solo travelers?

Absolutely. Plenty of crawlers come solo, and it’s one of the easiest ways to meet people at the start of your Tamarindo trip.
